Man tell me about it Dr. Norris :D I think I've lost more hearing from this project than anything I've ever done/listened to.

Alright, after looking the layout over, poking wires, moving them about, I looked and saw that in my haste (or something :scratch: ) I had the sleeve and tip mixed up on the input jack.. Signal doesn't come from sleeve guys! So don't try it :lol: EDIT: What I was trying to say here, the amp is the quietest amp I own now, and nicest sounding too!

Awesome sounding amp; I'll be sure to put up some gutshots and sound clips here for follow-up. Thanks kleuck, Dr. Norris, phatt, KindaFuzzy, and Greenmachine. Building one from scratch is pretty satisfying!

OT and PT windings shouldn't be parallel should they? I'm getting a quiet hum while the amp is in standby.

Depends :hmmm:
All Valve Amps (especially with AC heaters) HUM. How bad or how loud is dependent on many factors.
How you layout components, the wiring, and Yes the placing of major hum generating Transformers.
It's common knowledge that IF you must have trannys close they need to be at right angles but that can vary also because of other complex factors.

As already mentioned heater = Twisted pairs, close to chassis OR floating high above the Valve bases (See Early fenders)
All signal wires well away from HT wiring.
If they must cross make them as close the rightangles as you can get.

Darryl builds them much like they where made back in the 50's and I'm sure he can make these in his sleep he has been doing it for so long. :lol:

Clever layout can dramatically reduce hum issues but although it looks simple it takes years to perfect the art.

Here are the promised clips and pics. As you can see, I flipped the PT 90 degrees and it fixed the hum :)
