flashing led circuit

Frequent question abouts LED and other types of diodes.

I'm looking for a way to make my MXR phase 90 led flash "smoothly" with the with the speed of the sweep.
I can make the led flash on or off with the speed rate but would like to make it smooth
tia for any help
