ToneGod Acute ModestScream

So, a tubescreamer with ALL the options, with last setting recall and programmable switching including for diodes, clean bypass, op-amps, gain and EQ settings... Anyone ever played one of these? It's hard for me to imagine being able to build one with all those switching options in any kind of reasonable size and reasonable level of complexity. I'm tempted to buy one just to figure out how he did it all... Also a highly programmable fuzz.

I really, really, really dig his control surface concept, and I suspect there are some very clever tricks inside. But, they just sound... average. Nothing wrong with that, really, but sort of a let down compared to the rest of the pedal.

Are these digital modelling or something else?

Hmm, not quite. Tap, tap, tap.
There, but wait, tap, tap, okay yeah! No, wait, tap.
Scroll. Scroll. Scroooooooooooolllll.
Taptaptaptaptaptaptap. Tap.
Ah, there it is!
...or one little tweak of a knob.

Crazy how he fits all that stuff in what looks like a BB box then.drbob1 wrote:Apparently these are all analog, with a digital control/switching system...LaceSensor wrote:Are these digital modelling or something else?
FOllow whats been said, kudos for the engineering, but the sounds were uninspiring, to my ears at least.

I like this video's!
They do show the subtle differences between the various clipping and opamp options. Therefore they show how much money is spent by guitarists on overrated subtle sonic mods that are beaten away by your drummers cymbals live on stage.
I like these video's!
The once again show the importance of a decent demonstrator. That's what sells the pedal eventually. Not the engineering.
I like these video's!
They do show that less is more. implementation of a microcontroller, some e-switches, some e-pots, and tip-key control (so 70's) aside it shows a shitload of options that one wil try once and never again when sticking to that one, liked, settin. Probably number 1.
I like these video's!
Since it shows once again Andrew is a handy programmer but completely tonedeaf.
I despise thes video's
Since I, and always have, consider using a German Iron Cross as a logo a prime example of poor taste and judgement. It may have been a reward once in history but is experienced by many in the same manner as a swastika. Fortunately Anrdrew is just as deaf when it comes to this type of judgement.
And for those who don't understand my attitute towards this tone(deaf) god. A lot of critisism toward Aron Nelson on the way he moderates his place comes to the way Andrew moderates with his own set of rules but shuts up and let Aron take the blame when questioned. What a guy...

The cross is actually a variation of the Maltese Cross, called the Cross Pattee (cross with feet) and was used by both the english and german nights from the early middle ages. Its association with the German army of WWII is distasteful, but shouldn't color all uses of the cross (I understand the German airforce still uses a variation, and it is used by many metal bands and bikers although that may hearken back to the German connection again). I'd be interested in hearing what Andrew's thinking was? Also, why would someone call themselves The Tone God, inviting some joshing at least?
