Help me in identifying these components

Ok, you got your soldering iron and nothing is going to hold you back, but you have no clue where to start or what to build. There were others before you with the same questions... read them first.

So, I'm starting to get into this modding pedals thing (really starting from zero), so today I disassembled a couple of battery chargers/transformers/remote controllers in order to grab some components from them.
I found some capacitors, some resistors, some diodes and some other stuff unknown to me.

I put some of them in my scanner to take a picture, and here it comes as attachment.

Here there are the components:

A - what is this? It has SC 455E written on one side

B - is it a diode? It used to have a third plug in the center but unfortunately it got broken while desoldering it from the PCB. It has written S9140 C 128 on it

C - it's a led. While measuring it with a multimeter, in one way it lit green with a 1.839V value, while switching the sides lit red with a 1.636V value. What does it mean? And some other leds of the same kind I took from the same battery charger don't lit at all (and no value appears on the multimeter); can I assume they're dead?

D - it's a small black diode, with 1N4001 written on one side. Measured with a multimeter it's 0.598V - does anyone know what kind of diodes are these? And assuming that V stands for Volts (is that true?), what does it mean in terms of sound? Is this value affecting the smoothness or the harshness of the diode?

E - it's a black diode, similar to D but bigger. It has SB530 written on one side, and measured is 0.151V. Can I assume it's of the same kind of D?

F - it's a big led coming from a remote control. Measuring it with a multimeter it is 1.086V

G - diode coming from the clipping section of an Ibanez stompbox. A couple of them measure 0.612V and don't lit, while the other couple measures 1.804V and lits red. I guess 0.612Vs are from the soft clipping section while the 1.804Vs are from the hard clipping section, am I right? And it's a silicon diode, right?

H - AFIK it's a diode with a cooling aluminium plate. It measures 0.684V. Is that alu plate necessary? Is there any way to take it off without compromising the diode working? And what kind of diode is it? I didn't clean the lugs well because I wanted to know if it could be useful in a stompbox.

I - is it a condenser? It had a kind of insulation on the lugs, does anybody know what is that?

So, basically I'm trying to figure out which of these components are useful in modding od/fuzz pedals, and roughly how they sound.
Thanks in advance!
