Any suggestions on where I buy cables for 1/4" cables? What keywords do I look for when searching for it?

Also, what type of cables do I use for building power cables?

If you're wanting to put together some patch cables, this is a pretty good one....It's what I use.

When I shop around for cable to make 1/4 inch instrument and patch cabling, there's two types of cable that I usually buy, single-core shielded, and double core shielded (as used for balanced or mic cables), both types seem to work equally well, as for connectors, try and get the best ones you can afford, Jaycar Electronics stock 1/4 inch mono TS plugs which are gold-plated, these are about Au $3.65 each and work well for me.....

I don't tend to make alot of power cables since I have lots of commercially made IEC power cables, but very occasionally I might make a 240V AC extension lead, in that case I'll buy 3-core 10A mains cabling and some good 10A 3-prong plugs and sockets......


Before building some power cabling make sure you are absolutely sure which coloured wire is the Active,Neutral, and Earth and make doubly sure that you connect them up to the correct terminals on the plugs and sockets, one mistake could have very dangerous consequences that could result in death....so please be very careful....
