NE5532N more gain than other duals??????

Hey just received 12pc of NE5532N Siemens.. I am:

1) trying to make sure they are real .....

2) Without experience with the chip want to know if it has more gain or more output than other duals? It sounds like it has more drive and high end sizzle

I just plugged it into the Rust driver I built vs. the jrc4558d and it was hotter for sure and had a sizzle to it...

Any opinions on 1 & 2 are greatly appreciated

The level of gain is determined by the circuit, not the opamp..
so no, it won't have any more gain in that circuit than any other dual opamp.

Hi aegert,

Sorry to disappoint you but those integrated circuits aren`t made by Siemens. The rectangular shaped "S" letter stamped on them indictes that they`re made by Signetics:

The siemens logo during different eras is someting like this:

I don`t know exactly if these opamps have more gain that the 4558, but different chips sound each ones with different "personality".

Yess that is true.. I used the wrong terms.. Some op amps work in different frequency ranges and exhibit linearaties or lack Ther of over frequency ranges. These seem louder. I think it's that.

On the other hand they are pretty noisy. This could be the range but I thought these were ultra low noise... I am concerned they are fake. Any ideas?

I think that since dual op-amps are still in production and dirt cheap in general, there's no point in faking them. It makes much more sense to fake rare BBD's or OTA's and do some shady business on evilbay...

I read somewhere that it's supposed to be slightly noisier than TL072's but with a bit more high midrange. I don't remember where, and i definately don't know if it's true though.

that is what it sounds like then they are probably real.. No reason to make a fuss and return them
