Apparently it's a Klon Clone. So far so boring, but what's interesting is that they seem to use the original board layout.

original board (degooped)

Yup, that is the original Klon layout. Lame.

Indeed.
I've obviously made it clear that I have no objection to cloning. But for fuck's sake, at least spend a couple hours working up your own PCB layout.
This actually *might* be one of the few cases in which the copyright of the original builder may have been violated. As far as I have been able to tell, the layout artwork is, in fact, copyrighted upon creation (much like a photograph). So it seems this might be an actionable matter, legally speaking. I mean, provided that someone were to see the need to drop several thousand dollars to get things rolling.

Pretty much. Build a clone, if that's your thing, but FFS do some work to justify it.

it's funny that they can shell em out for 150 when the only difference is the enclosure. pretty ballsy the whole thing.
i wonder if the layout is just a pre-production thing? I guess not, why do all that work for only one pedal right? so it's safe to assume the production models are the same.

It quite likely uses the layout files Soulsonic made a few years back. I can't find it online anymore but I still have a printed copy of it.
I think it came with the PCB layout as well but I only have the parts placement part of it now.

PCE Effects wrote:It's essentially the same. That one was a black custom order and the guy wanted white wire for some reason. It's a little neater now and I use only Panasonic caps and no Lelon's. Other than that it's basically the same. I'll post some gutshots tomorrow when I get back from gigging this weekend.
It is the same layout but it's one that I did myself based on my Klon. I am aware of the one that was degooped by another forum but didn't base mine on their work. I think the end result is probably the same or equivalent.

Can anyone decipher that statement from the TGP thread? It's the same layout but original and wasn't based on the original or copied layout but looks just like it? I dunno what that is supposed to mean. Actually, Martin said his drawing of the PCB layout was only 99% of the original, IIRC.

It's the same layout but parallel development

My head hurts.
But at least he had the decency to switch to all Panasonic caps.

Sure, but they frighten off all the haunting mids. Gotta have 'Sonics for the scary-big mids.
