soldering iron?

Ok, you got your soldering iron and nothing is going to hold you back, but you have no clue where to start or what to build. There were others before you with the same questions... read them first.

Hello all,

I am new to the forums here and a total noob as far as pedal mods are concerned. However, I have worked with a soldering iron before... What wattage iron do I need to perform mods on boss pedals, digitech pedals, and little crappy crate combo amps and such?

Radio shack has like 12 soldering irons to choose from and of course the employees are no help at all. I am going to attempt a "deizel vh4 mod" on my metal zone, but I'd rather not fry the board. Any help would be appreciated,

Mike

25-30 watt with a pencil tip is fine. Your better off ordering something like this though.

Prolly costs the same as what you'd get at Radioshack but the CSI is definitely way more bang for the buck.

I just started myself, but I'll recommend this to you:
http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10707

It's variable temperature, which is much better than a Radio Shack "fire starter." Plus, the service at Sparkfun is second to none.
