Carlsbro - ADR1 Echo Reverb

Just bought this strange beast - I already have most of the Alu series, and this looks like the same era - the knobs particularly. Has echo with some weird mode switch you don't see on the pedal, ADT, reverb (probably a solid state spring system, but who knows?). The echo and ADT pedals both sound good, so I have hopes for this one. The gut shots will tell the story...

OK, just plugged a guitar in, although I think its designed equally for vocals.

Its a spring reverb, and ok as cheapish solid state ones go - works best when giving extra dimension to the delay. The delay modes range from very long repeats, then quite quickly to shorter and slappier repeats. The ADT - its either/or with the delay, you can't have both, so presumably they share a chip or two, kind of queasy sounding. Can't get the delay to run away with itself, but I also think the pots could do with a good clean, the delay improved with use, and there are some seemingly dead spots in the pots. The whole unit is nicely warm sounding, through a BF Dual Showman into a Marshall 2x12 cab with G12Ms (that is actually a really good combination).

You can have reverb + effect only, so one could route a dry signal elsewhere, I guess D/O is direct out?

I will open it up so we can have a look.

Hi,
I am selling my old CARLSBRO PROFEX ADR 1.

Offered as a not working item as some functions are not working.
The audio path is going through OK but some pots are now noisy, some of the FXs are still working but the spring reverb is making a high and harsh noise.
Some Delay FXs are not audible any more. The unit definitely needs a good cleaning!

I've seen the same unit going for around £75/£85 as a fully working unit...

The unit worked perfectly the last time I used it but that was some years ago, about 10 years.
Anyone interested, please give me an offer.

I am based in the UK

Yves

This arrived, a bit shabbier than the ADR1, but working much better. Very good punchy delay, kind of gritty repeats. Self oscillates, seemingly quite flexible. Not looked inside it, but suspect SAD4096 like the ADR1.
