I seem to recall that when Electroharmonix released the Big Muff Pi to the general public, they retailed for something like $19.00 to $39.00... :hmmm:

If you adjust that for inflation, that range is approximately $115 - $230.

Cheers Culturejam, I forgot about that, those Big Muff Pi pedals were released in the 60's, weren't they?, so I should have accounted for that.... :thumbsup

That's pretty cheap for one of that vintage.

I bought my first one on a trip to the 'States in 1970. It was on "sale" in Manny's for $13.95, with a "regular price" of $15.95. I also bought some other gear at the same time, so there was a further discount! :thumbsup

It only worked intermittently when I got it home, so I opened it up and found that the wires hadn't been soldered to the output socket and the sliding power switch - they'd been passed through the holes in the terminals, but not soldered! Two minutes with the iron, and the thing worked flawlessly (apart from crackly pots) for over 20 years.

It was stolen at a gig in Ukraine :( :x I was more upset about the BMP, the Cry Baby and the Binson Echorec than I was about the two guitars that also went! I'd had the effects for too many years....

Ukraine. It is good to know where they all went. I thought they were all in bins at Zakk Wylde's house.

I was just going to say that I've seen a Pink Flesh go for over £500 so that seems pretty reasonable for a vintage original.

Or check the price list of this guy

His BMP clone is 476 L, and that's not even resell price :slap:

I've seen ramheads go for $1000 easily, so Ron is right, not as bad price for a piece of music history. I could prefer to pay that much for it instead of double for a clone made on wima's

To be fair, 80GBP of the price is overnight international shipping.

It reminds me of a good Soviet-era joke:

When Glasnost happened, Joe had saved his money for years. He'd always wanted to own a car, so he thought "I've saved for years, and now the market is free and open - I'll order my car". he phoned the car factory to place his order:

"Hello, I'd like to order a car, please. I'd like a red one".

The man at the car factory said:

"There's a bit of a waiting list - it's eighteen months"

"Oh" said Joe "Will that be morning or afternoon?"

"Are you crazy?" said the man at the car factory "That's eighteen months away!"

"Yes" said Joe "It's just that I've got the plumber coming that day...."
