I found this thread talking about the Sarno Black Box. Has anyone here built this or a similar tube based input buffer? Does anyone have a suggestion on where to source the transformer in this design? Any help/insight is much appreciated.

Hi Snake,
Yep as long you don't use 12 volts for HT it will work.
Though my guess is it will be noisy but try it.
The Mesa VTwin (Clean input section ONLY) is what I use as an input buffer and it's dead quite and gives stunning results.
Delete the tone section if you want but you may find it very useful to fine tune the tonal result.
You may not need a Tranny for power,Look at the simple SMPS on these pages.

I'm useing the SMPU for my new PhAbbZone floor unit.
Cheers Phil.
