Pretty cool design, I'll have to say. Jack, I still don't know how you manage those crazy-ass OCD layouts. Also, I thought you said a while back that MMK caps were shitty, but I see some in this build.

I tried a few times (and in much simpler circuits than this!) to align all components like that and it was a total mess (a failed mess, by the way). What's the secret? Is that pcb two (or four) layered? Really amazing.

Yes, I believe does 4 layer designs for some of his pedals. This is definitely one of them.

Another thing to note is that he has fairly small solder pads. This allows him to run traces between there, I'm sure.

Like I said in the JHS thread: MMK's are really only suited for power supply decoupling.



As far as the layout goes: it's a four layer PCB. All signal traces are on the inner two layers. Top and bottom layers are ground planes which pull double duty and obstruct a would-be RE's access to signal traces. Combined efforts of my OCD tracking of the signal traces (two layers tracked to compliment one another and make reverse engineering even more difficult), obstructed vision, embedded control system required for operation and tight layout, I think it'd be easier to simple design your own through-zero flanger than take this one apart.

I don't know what I was thinking designing that circuit. Or tracking it. Or building it.
A layout like that takes a LONG time. And for fun, there are some patterns embedded in it as well. See if you can spot one!

I think I have a problem.

I saw one, maybe two, traces on the entire top of the PCB. That alone let me know it was 4-layer. No way all the routing was done on the bottom; didn't even have to pull it out to figure that one out.

Hmm , for patterns I see a V or kind of wing shape , not really a face .

for the zero flanging the whole signal gets delayed ?

Yes. Mod Zero is off the production line right now.
I'm not seeing more units being produced.
