I have been waiting about 10 years since my last good score on a guitar at a thrift store. Yesterday I latched onto this bone stock lap steel. Intact was the original case, original cord, leather pouch with the slide, 3 "clownbarf" celluloid picks and of course, "powdered" tuning buttons. Not to worry, I picked it up for the same money as going out for dinner with my girlfriend. I'm suitably chuffed to say the least.

AWESOME find ! Congrats !

I love those...very sweet sounding.

What tuning are you normally using ? I'm more of a "country guy", so I like C6 (and E9), but I know some guys prefer open G, open E, and open D (mostly for more bluesy stuff)

If you ever decide to sell it... :D

I'm strictly from commercial. I use that old chestnut E7 so I can at least flit about with the pentatonic soloing. But I'm locking myself in to learn Bob Will's Texas Playboy Rag in C6. The same tuning as Santo & Johnny's Sleepwalk. :thumbsup

I'm sorry, what? The amps are too loud!
