so i can finally start working on this again, to get it working. After a day of soldering, i have no LED, and no True Bypass. when plugged in etc, whether the switch is on or off, all i get is hum. Same case with or without a battery. ideas?

Well if theres no true bypass, i'd say you must have wired the switch & or jacks wrong, check that first.

just to doublecheck, with the input jack, the pins (starting with the one closest to the hole) is Ground, switched (battery -ve) and hot, right?

Correct.

well then i cant see any reason why it shouldn't work...

success! true bypass!! that's one step closer...
i'm guessing it's possibly a problem with the pots. scruffie, do you have a layout you've used for your FF builds that is 200% verified?

further update, incase it's any use to solving my problem.
there's certain points when turned on, that when i touch, i get mega mega buzz. It mainly happens at the -ve of C1, and a few other places. I'm going by this schem by the way:

It's the same one that I posted with the offboard wiring & the same one Igloo posted (it's his original layout with the pot wiring corrected) Its 300% verified and i've posted my onboardwiring layout I used too if that'll help (the overall build is alot easier and neater with it like that) along with the track cut images for each board, are you still doing all your boards with reverse track cuts or whatever you did? That's gotta over complicate things...
Anyway other these layouts I can't see what else your doing wrong!

and just to tripple check, all those pots are 321 right?

Yes, every one of them.

so then i guess it could be some sort of mystery issue with the circuit itself.... especially if i'm not getting any LED action.

If your using the parts you started with and have soldered them and unsoldered them hundreds of times theyre probably very unhappy by now. Is your LED orientated the right way ? is your switch wired up the right way round and have you tried it without the DC jack and just the Battery?

i guess the parts could be burnt out... but on two circuits!? surely not..
I'm not using a DC hookup, just the battery. I've checked the LED. I'm heading out shortly, so i'll try it again tomorro. I'll double check the circuit like.

Lol do you just wanna post them to me and see if I can fix them? Atleast then we can work out if it's something you did wrong or not and I can tell you how I fixed it.

nah. i wanna get them working myself. I'll go back over the pots and the circuit and see if i can get anywhere. except i've a dirty big hangover on me, so i'll do it tomorrow.
edit:
but it does sound like a circuit issue if i'm getting no LED, but true bypass, right?

Either a power issue or a wiring issue, which could be related to the circuit, but not neccesarily.

after ruling out the battery etc, in order, i should check:
1. Switch
2. Pots
3. Circuit
right?

Yea why not, just check everything, could you get some really good photos of it all? That would help me help you trouble shoot.
