se-5A valve amp values needed

Hi,

please help

I fancy a go at building an Ampmaker Se-5a. I dont want to buy a kit from Ampmaker as I can probably borrow most of the components from work and get more enjoyment out of building from scratch but I am stuck on several things, Hopefully someone will help point me in the right direction.

the schematic is as follows...... http://www.ampmaker.com/images/ak01kit/ak01sc2.jpg

1, Not all restistors have wattage markings, what should I use for the unmarked ones? this also applies to potentiometers, what wattage pots should be used for these?
2, Capacitor voltages, only some are marked - what voltage caps should I use for the unmarked ones?
3, Can someone reccomend transformers to suit this please as they are unmarked with values again
4, would it be possible to add a headphone socket and how please?

lastly
5, is switch s2 a mute switch?

Im in the uk so if anyone can reccomend uk suppliers for transformers and a suitable speaker etc that would be much appreciated

many thanks for any help provided

Jason

Barry (Ampmaker) has gone to a lot of time and trouble to develop these kits and it's a very big gesture of him to put his technical content on the www for us all to use FOC.

In my experience he's a very helpful and knowledgeable man. The least you can do is order the transformers from him. He sells them separately, and at very good prices.

You never know, he might even help with your query re:component values and ratings if you buy something from him.

All/most of the important stuff is on the drawing you posted??
So sounds like you need to do some reading before attempting to build this.
So I'm with Big Paulie's advice :thumbsup
Or just go buy the kit and then later branch out into DIY ideas.
Phil.

Thanks for replying guys. I have been reading and have had some helpful answers from elsewhere and im now pretty confident I can complete this little project.

This will be my first little foray in to amps and valves and I was unsure how voltages etc work in these circuits hance the reason I origionally asked ( I like to be 100% sure I know what im doing before I start).

I love the idea of the kits (and would recommend to others) but as a lot of the kit I have at home or work I feel the kit not necessary ( I have for eg turrets, cable, ptfe, tuffnel ,resistors, pots, capacitors, lamps, switches, sockets, fuses and holders, sheet aluminium/steel and bending machines and reqd tools etc etc )

now, ive joined this site and I guess many others have joined to use others circuit diagrams/schematics (many are clones). For me its to save money as well as the fact I enjoy building things from scratch therefore I want to save as much as possible, If another company offers transformers or valves cheaper then I will buy from the cheaper company (having said that Ampmaker does look cheapest for transformers so far)
please dont take this the wrong way Bigpaulie but when you made your effects did you clone them and did you then buy all your bits from EH for instance I apologise if I seem a little aggressive but your quote "The least you can do is order the transformers from him" :x struck a nerve !

Maybe it struck a nerve for a reason: guilty conscience? ;)

Joking aside, it's a little bit different than me building effects. Barry is a small operation who has put a lot of effort into getting his business to where it is.

To just ape his designs seems a bit off to me. Why not build another project, something from ax84 perhaps?

And seeing as you asked, I built a clone of a Catalinbead DLS some time ago. I liked the circuit so much I ordered a real one weeks later.

I see your point BigPaulie :thumbsup .
Ampmakers prices to be honest are really good and I am going to order from him (after 14th Jan) and I do want to use His schematic as I only hear good reviews about his amps and the youtube vids on them sound great. So hopefully everyones happy !! :D

Good luck with the build.

The clips I've heard sound great!
