Does anyone know if it's possible to install a "bright switch" for a Marshall TSL601 amp? A friend of mine is asking because he finds that he can't make it bright enough.

Well, its a matter of putting a defeat-able bypass cap in parallel with the Gain knob, on PCB amps with PCB-mounted parts like the TSL601, it might take some ingenuity. But remember bright caps/bright switches only work at low volume, they allow the normal high-end to bypass the Gain/Volume pot, but are negated as you turn up (they make things very bright on 1 or 2, but by the time you get up to 7-8 they don't do much). This may be a situation where he just doesn't like the way the channel is voiced.

you can try re-voicing the amp by adding capacitors in parallel with resistors. I would try 470pF or something in that range in parallel with one or more of these
R95
R83
and some similar resistors in series with coupling caps
might also reduce C80 or C87 to 1uF or 0.68uF
