JRC 3011? it seems pretty odd to put one of those in a pedal, don't you think?

Look at the other number on the chip - it's just a 13600!Heypepe wrote:Not sure, but this doesn't look like cheesegrrrunge wrote:JRC 3011? it seems pretty odd to put one of those in a pedal, don't you think?

It's all exactly the same chip, just different brands, batches and date codes, there's no such thing as a JRC 3011 or 2002 that's just code markings in different places on the chips... 13600 is a 13600 is a 13600, they will all sound exactly the same.

I read 3011 as week 30 of 2011.

Finally, an intelligent and accurate answer! I was beginning to wonder if I was seeking advise on a site that was giving away free boxes that one may stomp out of frustration and not a site of knowledgeable circuit benders!Scruffie wrote:It's all exactly the same chip, just different brands, batches and date codes, there's no such thing as a JRC 3011 or 2002 that's just code markings in different places on the chips... 13600 is a 13600 is a 13600, they will all sound exactly the same.
Now that we know the 136000 number IS the CHIP, is there any way you can elaborate on the markings? Or is that for another topic?Scruffie wrote:It's all exactly the same chip, just different brands, batches and date codes, there's no such thing as a JRC 3011 or 2002 that's just code markings in different places on the chips... 13600 is a 13600 is a 13600, they will all sound exactly the same.

Find out how JRC mark their chips... as an example (although not correct) 3 could be month, 01 could be year and 2 could be a batch number.Heypepe wrote:Now that we know the 136000 number IS the CHIP, is there any way you can elaborate on the markings? I don't know why you'd want to know though, other than dating the chip which may help date the pedal to a point (that chip could have been in their parts bin for god knows how long) it doesn't change anything.

That could be if it was (and there was) a CP9 reissue. Unfortunately this is a Maxon board so definitely no reissue and therefore from around 1982-1984.deltafred wrote:No edit button!

I do admit that I didn't read the whole thread so didn't realise it was an old chip.Dirk_Hendrik wrote: That could be if it was (and there was) a CP9 reissue. Unfortunately this is a Maxon board so definitely no reissue and therefore from around 1982-1984.

No. It's a 13600. The last character is a "D". All the 13600s are the same - Philips, Fairchild, JRC or anyone else - they're just a dual transconductance amplifier with input linearisation diodes. A very useful device in the music world.Heypepe wrote: Now that we know the 136000 number IS the CHIP, is there any way you can elaborate on the markings? Or is that for another topic?
