Yes, I am a newbie in tone. I was wondering what is the difference between the IC's: LM13600N, 13600D JRC 2002, and the 13600D JRC 3011 in the Ibanez CP9 Compressor/Limiter? Are there any?

I have seen all 3 in different CP9s, surely someone knows. Are they from different years, did they run out of certain chips? Am I crazy?

JRC 3011? it seems pretty odd to put one of those in a pedal, don't you think?

I thought the CP 9's all had the 136000

It's all exactly the same chip, just different brands, batches and date codes, there's no such thing as a JRC 3011 or 2002 that's just code markings in different places on the chips... 13600 is a 13600 is a 13600, they will all sound exactly the same.

I read 3011 as week 30 of 2011.

Finally, an intelligent and accurate answer! I was beginning to wonder if I was seeking advise on a site that was giving away free boxes that one may stomp out of frustration and not a site of knowledgeable circuit benders!

How can that be if these were made in the 80's?

Find out how JRC mark their chips... as an example (although not correct) 3 could be month, 01 could be year and 2 could be a batch number.

I don't know why you'd want to know though, other than dating the chip which may help date the pedal to a point (that chip could have been in their parts bin for god knows how long) it doesn't change anything.

That could be if it was (and there was) a CP9 reissue. Unfortunately this is a Maxon board so definitely no reissue and therefore from around 1982-1984.

I do admit that I didn't read the whole thread so didn't realise it was an old chip.

No. It's a 13600. The last character is a "D". All the 13600s are the same - Philips, Fairchild, JRC or anyone else - they're just a dual transconductance amplifier with input linearisation diodes. A very useful device in the music world.
