Wiring - how to wire a mono in / stereo out bypass
Cant seem to figure it out, I cloned a Boss DC-2 and the thing sounds amazing but I cant figure out how to bypass this thing with a 3PDT switch and still have the LED work, I dont need it to be TB, just to work, any help would be appreciated. I dislike boss's bypass so I built it without hoping to do true bypass or a buffer on a seperate small board.

this should be pretty straightfoward for you. beavis's site is amazing. hope this helps.
btw, could you pm me your layout for the dc-2?

Beavis's site is great but it does not have anything on wiring a stereo pedal.

What about Millenium Bypass ? http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/m ... millen.htm
With 3PDT, you could wire the first two poles like a mono true-bypass w/ Millenium, then wire the third pole to switch the second ouput just like the first one (without Millenium Bypass of course, one LED should be enough).

I only give negative feedback.

sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you just meant the regular mono/stereo in/out jack thing...

Surely a potential problem is that the pedal buffers the signal and sends it to two outputs: if you are using "true bypass" this you'll be connecting the guitar directly and unbuffered to two amplifier inputs in parallel. This may or may not be OK, depending on the input impedances (and on whether you use a buffer as the first pedal in your effects chain anyway...).

Here's a little schematic I made for true-bypassing a DC-2 with added millenium bypass:

hi jfromel,
which layout did you use ?
i used the topopiccione layout for mine, and there was something i found out that i posted a thread about over at diy stompboxes, here´s the link:
https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/ ... ic=54547.0
it´s about the stereo/mono thing with the switch...what do you think about it ?
also, did you finally decide how to do the bypass ? mine´s finished since almost one year but i never put it in a box...today (funny coincidence, it was before i read your post) i remembered the dc-2 again and now i want to box it up, so i´d be curious to see if you solved the problem.
i thought about using a 3pdt with the millenium bypass, like nelson suggested in his build instructions for the clone theory.
cheers,
lohstah

I used a Millinium bypass, it works great. I did the whole circuit on a new double sided pcb with PCB Express. Even though I did it myself it would not really be cost effective for anyone to do it themselves. The four prototype boards were about $200 alone not counting the components. I have made about a dozen so far, they sound way better than the DC-2. I have about 40 boards left and after that I doubt I will build any more of these, it's a really difficult build.
My version has the stereo mono switch, in mono it makes no difference but in stereo the voicing is better. The switch was a necessary part of removing all the buffered bypass circuit.

The drawing I did last night is wrong.
I tried to change the picture, but could no longer edit my post.
So this should be correct:

To avoid confusion I also changed "to millennium output" to "to millennium bypass"by JiM on 08 May 2009, 02:25
