I have always used ammonium persulphate - just goes blue with the copper sulphate formed and little or no fumes.

I've made another layout on this(not pcb mount jacks and removed the output bypass components). I don't need a buffered bypass since i already have buffers..i'll post it if bajaman wouldn't mind.. :)

I know there is a protocol to posting on this forum that I want to adhere to, so I have a question for you. What forum should I post a question about a component in this limiter in?

Thanks
Jman

Allright, well I'll just ask it here. I was wondering if an MPF102 transistor would work for this application instead of the 2SK117, until I'm ready to make a parts order.

Any Jfet could be subbed in there. It is just a buffer. The SK type is a low noise variety though, so when you get one stick it in to keep the noise floor low.

No probs - If you need to ask a question about any of the projects stick in in the topic like you did here.

If it's a problem debugging a build of the project post it in the workbench 8)

Got it working today. I will install it in an enclosure as soon as I get done painting. I just wish the indicator LED was a little brighter. Other than that, nice project!!! thanks for the write up and contribution Bajaman! :thumbsup

Hmm, I'm pretty sure you could use a super bright LED for the indicator.
Or maybe you could split the 560 resistor into 220 and 330, taking the indicator from the 220 resistor...

Bajaman will correct me if I'm wrong.

---------------------------------------------------------

Mmm, don't mind what I said;
Second - it is critical that the same LED as used in the optocoupler is used for the limit indicator light.

I will try a super bright LED, and I'm sure splitting the resistor would work, but I would have to look and see if it's feasible with the PCB. I also thought about just having it be a "solid on" indicator instead of varying with the sound. I could just draw the power from somewhere else and use a LED/Resistor combo.

Thanks for the input Fuzzer.

Yeah, I was going to tell you that if what you want is a status LED then use the remaining pole of the switch and wire a classic LED indicator; I should have read Bajaman's instructions before my earlier post, my apologies. :slap:

Glad you caught that. I was going to try a different LED. I guess it's going to be a status light then for me. I can barely see the LED when it comes on as it stands right now.

Thanks again

Jman

i would use this for the second (indication) led, so it doesnt mess with the one used for the LDR, and can be of different type.

Nice project, but I don't know where i could get 90 ohm LDR. :(

I'm seeking for right type but I can't find it by any seller.
There are everywhere only about 1k and higer values.

BanzaiEffects have got the lowest value 200 ohms
