Headphone Amp Setup for Effects

Greetings. I have built a lot of fuzz face based effects and would like to play them through a headphone setup. If anyone has any feedback on a setup for this, I would be very appreciative.

My thought was to build an MXR headphone amp. http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/dia ... a841b3e85a

I was thinking that I may need a speaker cab sim between the effect and the amp, which I would want to include in the same box. Perhaps the Condor?

If anyone has any experience with either of these items, let me know. I'm also not adverse to a commercial amp, but have not had much luck with them in the past.

I was looking to build something similar a while back:

If it's just to check a circuit is working, or maybe for a little late night/low volume playing, I think a simple 386 based circuit would do the trick. If you want a more realistic "amp sound", a cab sim is probably a must-have.

That's exactly my setup and works very well with other effects in front of it. I put the two boards in the same box, each with its input and output but used switched jack sockets to connect the output of the cab sim to the input of the headphone amp.
