Theyre designed for switching applications so if you just ram them in a FF they'll sound shit - what do you expect ? First off, bias them properly and use the leakage to your own advantage. Try piggybacking them, they look like they may be ok in a Harmonic Percolator when piggybacked. Dont just jam them in the first fuzz circuit you see and expect gold. Some of the fuzz circuits on Fuzzcentral are good for hybrid circuits with Si into Ge.

Dont forget those russian pnp ge were slagged off until experiments proved they are good in the right circuit.

2N128's are at the bottom.

I have a bias knob on my FF and they were useless throughout the range. I was thinking about piggybacking them but i settled on the AC128's instead. I also tried a Si->Ge combo and it didn't sound very good.

Um

Settle down Torchy, this ain't my first rodeo. If its my opinion these transistors have limited usage due to their low hfe (20-40) and just plain sound stiff and dull then I'm entitled to it.

They'll make nice diodes. :)

PS...I wonder how they'd work as the first transistor in a Tonebender style circuit ? It likes high leakage, low hfe....
