Simple XLR a/b switching DIY Radial Hotshot

so i need to switch between my dynamic mic destinations in a live situation, and was thinking that even though i'm a complete electronics novice an XLR a/b switch should be simple enough to put together?

after a bit of internet research there seems to be a lot of different methods some using 3PDT some 2PDT, some powered, some not... so im a bit confused as to what to go for...

This is pretty much all i need (minus the pad and trim):
