I think we should make a poll now:
What first, the Matamp or the Hottube ?

The Matamp has a complicated interesting switching system...

The Hottube has V1: 150k, V2: 220k, V3: 220k, V4: 220k collector resistors, between V2 and V3 is a 22k resistor and between V3 and V4 a 5k6 resistor in the power-supply rail. On V3 the bypass-cap at the cathode has a trimmer in series to adjust the gain. DC-heating....

The only uncommon at the first view seems to be the use of stereo-potentiometers.

I think I will post the hottube and keep the matamp - a Hottube everyone can buy for $ 150,--, a matamp is more rare. I should keep this secret as my IP.

But:
You said that you like Orange ?
You said that you like Matamp ?

Did you know that I am a sadist ?

Sooo.... what would you say to:
Matamp and Orange together - ready for the marriage ?

Ha ha, its funny that alot of people don't realize that old Orange and Matamp are the same - but still, I'd like to see if there's any differences in the circuit. The Matamp does look a little different.

What about newer Matamps? Those look to be very different from the new Orange's. I've never seen any schematics for them - it certainly would be a treat to see one of the new Matamps exposed.

But yes, you should do the Hot Tubes first.... more fun that way.

looks like the Matamp had more power supply decoupling at the input.
I seem to recall some one saying they were marketed as Matamp in the North of England and Orange in the South!?
By the way AG, is that not a dual opamp I can see, in the blurry circuit trace for the Hot Tubes
Cheers

Hello analogguru,
I've been busy working and repairing too - I had so many repairs waiting in my workshop, that I had to leave the next wave in my van for two days    .
I am just making my run for the weekend now - (10:19 am on Thursday morning here) and it looks positive  .
....and I was going to send you that Synthi Hi Fli stuff too
Cheers
