I know this kind of sucks as a first post but.... is anyone still running Ampwares? I placed an order a week ago and I haven't heard anything. I got an automatic order conformation but thats it. I sent an inquiry as to the status a few days ago and again, nothing! All I ordered is a few pots for some pedal projects I got going, so nothing big. Just curious if I sent my CC info to a dead site.

Crook. He owes me $$/product from way back. Never a word. Avoid.

Be thankful it was just a few pots and not amp logos and three replacement back panels.sicklidz wrote:Great... wish I knew this a couple weeks ago!
You may be in luck - sometimes he's known to send stuff.

I don't see how sites like that can even stay around. I did a little searching on the parts I needed and Google pointed me to a forum where he was recommended..... but those posts were from '04 I think.
Oh boy
Not to sound negative ... but not a month goes by without one of these posts popping up somewhere. A quick google search will reveal a pile of posts about this "company".
Use the Fender Amp Field Guide for reference and NEVER order ANYTHING from Ampwares. The majority of people who order do seem to get their parts but usually after months of waiting. Good luck.
Most of those parts can easily be found elsewere. In the future try some of these:
http://www.hoffmanamps.com/
http://www.tubesandmore.com/
http://www.tedweber.com/
And for basic parts - resistors/caps etc
http://www.mouser.com/

Yeah, I did a little more digging and found everything I need and more at Small Bear! I'm still cutting my teeth in the DIY stompbox world and getting my list of suppliers and resources together. Good thing I found this site!! My list of effects and amps I want to build is getting pretty long, and this site is GREAT! There's a ton of info here and I've been recommending this place to everyone I talk to about FX.

I placed an order with Ampwares about two weeks ago for around $15 of misc. parts and also received an invoice but haven't received the shipment yet. My Debit card was charged and everything!
I have used them a few times in the past and have never run into any problems like this! But it has been a few years since Ive ordered anything from them.
Small Bear? That's a great site and Steve is a good guy. But, I thought you were ordering amp parts? Small Bear does carry some parts for amps but mostly for stompboxes. Watch the wattages/voltages on some of the parts you order. A 16V cap in a tube amp can be an expensive light show.sicklidz wrote:Yeah, I did a little more digging and found everything I need and more at Small Bear!

the guy owe me more than a $100. ordered various parts last october 2007, never heard a word and never got my parts!
he sometimes do send out stuff, usually i see people saying they got their stuff (mostly they are from USA, unfortunately i'm from Philippines, so that would have made the difference!)
have been following up on him but never heard a word. very bad customer service if you can still call it one.

Well, I just got home and much to my surprise waiting for me was my order. It only took a month and a half so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I feel bad for anyone who has spent lots of money there and has still not received anything many months after the fact.
The Field guide is a great reference. It would be a shame to lose it. Until it comes back up (if it does) try here:KHELSTROM wrote:Looks like the ampwares site is down. Hopefully it will come back just for the sake of the Fender amp field guide. I don't even know how many times I've referenced it.

Look into an "offline browser", I use HTTracker for Windows, Sitesucker for OSX. You can download the entire site and have it for as long as you want.

Thanks Wyatt,
but there is something going on, ampwares.com has been redesigned. Should really look into a sitesucker program, still see a lot of sites go offline.
Will repost this reference as a separate topic into the Software section.

Interesting. I had just assumed Ampwares had finally just slinked away during the night after racking up years of ill-will in poor business practices. The new site is linked to Mojotone, seems a deal must have been cut.modman wrote:Thanks Wyatt,

Offline sites are what the wayback machine is for.
