Landmine - LD-1 Distortion

This currently discontinued pedal sounds good...really good (for a "metal" distortion anyway)...and I'm trying to figure out what it's based on. No gain knob, it's always turned up to 11, it has a 3 band EQ and a mixer out with cabinet emulation. The dirt/response has a very "rectified" sound with some fuzz around the edges, vaguely reminiscent of the DOD FX69/FX86. Four JRC 4580 IC's and a ton of cans but it predates the Suhr Riot. I'm guessing it's an amalgamation of two or more existing distortions but does anybody see any strong similarities with established circuits?

No clue at all.
But thanks for bringing this pedal to my attention. I rather like it and it seems it can have a good fuction for the solo parts in the bigband jazz band I'm playing in.

It was made by a Canadian company, some time ago. Apparently, it's quite a good distortion. Quite beefy. I think there are some videos on the net. I would love a trace of this one.

Yep. I remember seeing that thing in shops in Vancouver. Didn't realize it was a Canadian biz.

Indeed, it even has a big canadian flag sticker underneath. It seems to get the job done pretty well in the same vein as the AMT Legend Amp pedals, particularly the "P-1" 5150 simulator which it seemingly pre-dates by the best part of a decade...now if only those cannucks would reveal their circuit secrets...

Can you trace it out for us? I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Making a decent trace/schematic of this board surpasses my skill level, but if anybody wants to have a crack at a proper circuit dissection I can provide clearer pictures, possibly put the PCB in my scanner if that'd work?

Hmmm... where do you live? I've had folks send me effects for tracing before. The Schumann PLL and Frostwave Resonator, just to name a couple. If you wish, PM me, and maybe we can work something out.
