I sprayed some clearcoat on a few boxes in the morning and didn't have that much to do while the laquer was drying up. I decided to take this one up. The schematic that has been floating around for years always makes my eyes bleed whenever i try to look at it. So i thought it would be time to redraw this. I'm relatively new to tracing boards and producing schematics, so there is a chance of errors. I did refer to that previous schematic and couple of Dirk's Soundtank series schematics (huge thanks to Dirk), which did make a few things a lot easier. The earlier schem had a couple component values wrong, while the topology (minus the switching, LED, power section and pot values/tapers) appeared to be correct.

SF5 is a very nice BMP derivative. The board is the same for SF5 and FZ5, while the former, in metal enclosure was only made from 1989 to 1990. Or so i believe. When you think about it, in just five years these will be *vintage*.

Anyway. After a 1 and a ½ packs of smokes, two pots of coffee and a day's work, here you go.

Nice. I'd swear I traced this one years ago but cannot find a thing anywhere. Anyway this is far better than the poor circuit snippet that roams the net so far as "the schematic of an FZ5".

The CR partsin the bypass flipflop are an integrated combination of an R and a C in one package. They're not capacitors.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

I figured that much about the CR1-CR2. I just hadn't seen any of those before. I left the resistor images there, because to my knowledge that flip-flop won't work without them. The CRs are marked with "80" and "1". You think they are 100K/1n?

Hi, I just picked up a beat up SF-5,missing batt cover and paint, but it works fine! Any mods that you guys would recommend on this circuit? Mojo transistors etc...
I like the way it sounds but it seems like a pretty tame version of a big muff.
Isn't there a mod to bring it to OD-850 [I think that is the model #] specs?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Bumping almost a year later!
I'd really like to bring it to OD-850 specs. Anybody know the elusive mod that I've heard mentioned but never seen?

- Take the SF5 schem
- Take the OD850 schem
- spot the differences
- make the changes

That's how I modded em multiple times.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.
