okay, i'll try to track down another cmos, i think that was my last onebajaman wrote:Okay - are you sure those two diodes near pin 7 of the cmos chip have their black bands closest to pin 7??
If so, then try changing the 4069 - these are very static sensitive, so handle with care with the power supply disconnected of course.![]()
Once again - you are using momentary (push to make contact) switches???
Post another photo please - check for solder bridges on solder side where there should not be any!!
good luck - perseverance will get it working properly.

bajaman. I think all i have left are 4066. I'm positive about the diodes, but i will double check and take a new pic when i get home. Then maybe an extra pair of eyes can catch a bridge i can't see.

No - it is a quad bilateral switch, and the 4069 is a hex inverting buffer - the ONLY similarity is they are both static sensitive CMOS fet devices.would 4066 work in this circuit?
cheers

Crap, that's what I thought. Time to track down a source locally. I JUST did a parts order and can't justify a full order for 1 part. I'll have to shelve it until parts order time comes again...

the 4069 is equivalent to US 30c here in NZ
Do you not live near an electronics store????
They are one of the cheapest CMOS chips available!

unfortunately, there is not a single electronics store near me, save radio shack. and let's face it, i'm not going to find one there. There is one decent electronics supply store about 45 minutes from here, but they are only open 8 to 5 MOn thru Fri, and guess when i work?bajaman wrote:the 4069 is equivalent to US 30c here in NZ![]()

Hi Patrick - even Radio Shack should have the 4069 chip.

UNfortunately i live in a place that values cell phone chargers and tv's more than electronic components, so the two radio shacks in my town aren't generally to be relied on for parts.
4049 is an inverter, right? I have one of those sitting around...

4049 - big no - different pin configuration for starters - you need the 4069 sorry.

I'll try to hit up the radio shack tomorrow and if i can't find one there I'll try to get to my fave supply store during my lunch break one day. damn you baja and your cool projects!

Someone I know is looking for an A/B/Y to switch between amps, and I think this would be a great project for that, right? Looking over the schematic, those momentary switches are just SPST aren't they? Sorry if that's a dumb question, just want to make sure I get all the right parts.

Another possible dumb question.
Is it possible to incorporate this circuit with just an A/B switch? The person I know wants to switch amps, but doesn't want to have them both going at the same time, so he wouldn't need the "Y." If it's not possible, then I'll still build this as is.
Thanks in advance!

just don't connect (or fit
) the other switch - it will work fine as a channel changer or AB switch then.

since i'm only using this as an A/B switcher, before I order parts, do you think that without the additional switch it might fit into a 1590 or 125B? or is the circuit just too big for that? Thanks for all of your help!
