Hi all,
I am not sure where to post this so I'll put it here. Modman, please put this where it can be of most help.
I found this while researching capacitor characteristics, written by Bob Pease of National Semiconductor. This answered my questions about why mylar sucks and polypropylene is king...a must read if you're the engineering type.

excelent read. It's nice that there is an explanation of what is really going on inside the capacitor with the drawing of all the parallel resistors and capacitors. I always find the way in which components are not idea interesting.... sometimes you can even find uses for their imperfections.
