Ibanez - Standard Wau Wau [schematic]
Hey thanks for posting this I just came across it. I have a ibanez wau wau fuzz just wondering if this is the same wah circuit? Most people post schematics of the fuzz side of it, not the wah.
Have you done any mods to it or recommend any? Is it similar to anything else?
I compared it to a Dunlop crybaby I have. The circuit around the wah 100k pot looks the same. Around the inductor circuit looks similar but it doesn't have the 33k resistor across the inductor and there's a 100k resistor instead of 82k. The rest is quite different as this has 2 2sc828 trannies and the gcb95 has 1 mpsa13 and 2 mpsa18's.

- mictester
- Old Solderhand
Information
The inductor is 500mH.
My add-ons for this circuit are a FET input buffer to raise the input impedance to ~500kΩ and a bipolar transistor buffer at the output to give an output impedance of around 10kΩ. The sound of the circuit isn't changed, but the input won't load down guitar pick-ups and the lowered output impedance can drive into almost anything. The current consumption is only increased by about 1.5mA.
I've also added LEDs and mains power supplies to these too. One I built for a friend had bi-colour LEDs beneath the pedal which allowed out red light when bypassed and green when engaged - it looked great on stage!

"Why is it humming?" "Because it doesn't know the words!"
Sounds like a cool mod.. did you use a 2n5457 jfet or like the original fuzz circuit a 2sk30a?
I had thought about changing the input cap from 10uf to 0.01uf and itd be basically the same circuit as a colorsound wah. This has 100k input resistor and the dunlop have a 68k I don't know what difference that would make?
