yeah i have a cheapo too. does the job, but no cap tester.

don't mean to take this too far OT, but i was looking around on the net for meters today and found this. it has all the bells and whistles except it's not autoranging and it's dirt cheap. don't know about the build quality though.

I have a earlier Moon phase. Think it might be gooped up. I've been thinking it was probably a modded phase 90 with a buffer. Seems to have a lot of extra sparkle and detail. It sounds really nice on its own but in a band setting the detail is sort of moot. I actually just use a dunlop phase 90 reissue as I find the moon phase a little too subtle.

i think given the versatility and the number of settings, it would likely be HEAVILY modded if that is the case...

:applause: Thanks for the pics!

Would you be able to check all of the cap values and what sort of transistors they are? Resistor values would be great too as some are a bit blurry

6 stages here, though.
+1 on that one. It looks to me like a 6 phase stage varient of the 45/90. The P45 used two 2n5458, which are pretty close to the 2n5457 used here. I actually used four 2n5457 in my four stage P45 without having to mod anything. The P90 used 2n5952, which seem pretty much unavailable. I'm building an 8 stage P90 at the moment, and using 2n5485 FETs in place of the stock 2n5952's. The cluster of two (10K?) resistors and one (0.01uf?) cap around each FET would suggest that it's closer to a P45 than a P90, at least in respect of the FETs.

Just picked up an older non-deluxe model (polished silver box), and it's non-SMD (as expected). Gut shots below.

I'm going to see if I can get the white gunk off the FETs. Like other versions, the op amps are TL072.

Interestingly, that little white/black pcb-mounted slider switch is like a bass boost/cut. It's not mentioned on their web site or in the instruction sheet.

Here's a couple pics of the bottom of the PCB.

The way the two pots are wired is really sort of crappy looking (second pic below). The pot terminals are cut/twisted off, and bare copper wire is directly soldered to the remaining flat part of the terminals. Weird.

The build quality on the earlier stuff was a sight to see. It was like a bad design done really well which doesn't really make sense but you would understand if you saw an old empress chorus. parts everywhere on and off the board but still somehow didn't look like a clusterfuck.

No, it makes perfect sense. The phaser I have looks really neat in most spots, but the pots and other off-board wiring is messy. It's very odd.

Hey culturejam,
If I trace all that I can from the pictures posted will you be able to pop the thing open again to help fill in the blanks?
While I'm sure there's nothing too exciting about how the phasing's done, I'm intrigued about the cosmology control.

I sure will. Just tell me what you need and I'll take the pics.

:thumbsup

This might be a cool one to build. :thumbsup

It's definitely a nifty phaser. But check out the Whetstone I just posted. I like it better.

It's could be a feedback switch, as R28 mod on phase90.
Scheme looks like phase90+ with deep and color (bias) knobs.

So, nothing interesting and new.

I like that it has a tremolo-only mode. And one of the trem-o-phase modes is pretty cool.

The phasing core might not be brand new, but the implementation is original. :thumbsup

Agreed. Going to get stuck into this in the next few days.

Cool. I like the Moon Phase but would like to see if I could tailor to my needs. One phaser to rule then all!

did anyone ever come up with a schematic for this?
