So I got this little unit (I know there is already a thread on the wah-wah switch+, this is the '92 version without the +)
I expected a optical wah pedal like all the other George Dennis pedals I've seen and worked on.......

I like that mechanical solution (even if that rope seems to be fragile), close to the Ernie-ball system; does it allow a full rotation of the potentiometer?

The rope is clear fishing line. I think you need to apply a lot more pressure to make this snap!
The potmeter is almost fully rotated. There is some small portion left in the toe down position. The sweep of the threadle is really big and makes the wah effect to be quite functional!
