Electric Mistress range cap

Ahoy gals and guys,
I was comparing the schamatics of varius electric mistress versions the other day, and among other things I notics that v2 has a 220nF cap across the range knob that does not show up in later versions :

There is also a 33k and a 1uF tantalum cap that have been removed in later versions. The total resistance between the range pot and filter matrix switch / ground are also different. I assume that especially the first difference might be quite important. Could anybody shed some light on how the first two changes are affecting the sound and function of the circuit?
Thanks a lot in advance!!
