MXR Smartgate - Revival Attempt
Hey! So I bought a few broken pedals from a guy on Craigslist thinking it would be fun to try to see what I could do to try and make them work again. I am new to messing with the electronics of pedals, but after modding two different pedals and loving to give myself challenges to push myself more, I decided to take the opportunity. Out of the three pedals I bought, one of them was an MXR Smartgate. Known for its outstanding work as a noise suppresor, I was really hoping that I could get it to work to be able to use the pedal. It seems that the pedal is not getting any power, wether plug in with an adapter or powered with a battery. When plugged into the chain though, turned off the signal went through, unchanged. When the effect was turned on, no sound whatsoever, and no lights from the LED. I figured though, that this is due to true bypassing, and what seems to be a dead pedal. I know nothing of the histories of the pedals, except that the guy before me bought them on ebay, expecting to get into the same thing I'm getting into, only to collect dust after a few years. I'm wondering if someone would be able to point me in the right direction of where to start looking for the problem. Thank you!
Check a all resistors near the power jack. I saw some posts regarding this issue on other forums.
