Hello,
I'm new round here and to pedal building in general, I've only just successfully completed my first build with the aim of learning a bit more about how these things tick and more specifically to try and figure out how to fix a pedal I bought a number of years ago, it's called the Zonkin Yellow Screamer mk 2 and is based on BYOC's OD2...
The pedal was sitting round for a long time without any use and I decided to give her a blast, normally I just use batteries however I was all out, so I decided to use a 9v supply I had kicking around. When I first plugged it in I got a signal through bypass however as soon as I turned it on there were some mighty low range thuds coming through the amp I knew something was up. Feeling inquisitive I took it apart to see what I could do (how hard could it be right!? wrong), quickly realising I had no idea what I was looking at I decided to put it back together however now I got no signal at all through bypass and the battery (I'd bought some new ones by this point) was getting hot. I believe this is a sign of a short to ground which I think I located and fixed (the battery stays cool now) but alas still no signal when in bypass or engaged.
After looking at the board a bit closer, I've noticed that there are some nasty looking burn marks near the led, diode and resistors which are more noticeable underneath, hopefully this comes across in the images. I also noticed a nick on one of the purple cables on the 3pdt but it looks like the cable is intact.
Can anyone give me an idea of where to start with this? Should I just replace the resistors and diodes and cross my fingers? Would this affect it not working in bypass?
Here are the best pictures I could muster, I've included the power supply initially used (would this generally be ok??)
