I built this from a tagboardfx-layout.

The whining is constant, even without an input. In the video below it is boxed but I have since that removed it from the box and have it connected to a Test Box
The four leds are constantly lit. The two on the right a bit brighter than the ones on the left.

Damn, the solderings don't look that bad in reality :D

Here is a video of the sound if makes:

And the schematic, allthough I built it from the layout at tagboardeffects:

I would suggest that you get your multimeter out and check for shorts between each adjacent strip on the board - I sometimes run a sharp knife between the strips in case of any small solder tracks

Thank you, I have done so with a really small screwdriver and I have also checked with a multimeter and found nothing.
But I will check again, thanks.

Found it :D
It was a small copper bridge where there should be a cut.
After your advice I checked all the cuts, and used a knife to make sure there where no solder bridges. Then I changed all the caps for new ones for smaller ones, so it was a good thing anyway as the new ones don't need to be bent. Changed all the ceramics for new ones and remeasured all the resistors.
Checked everything again and then checked the cuts again and that's when I found it :)
I'll see how it sounds tomorrow. Any advice on setting the trim pot?
