There's a similar buffer at this page, but using a mosfet. Let us know how it works, jfets are too much expensive here too.

2N7000 aren't as sensitive to static damage as BS170 in my experience. Datasheet also says they have already a build in protection diode if I recall that correctly. Bigger risk: Are they fake?287m wrote:Hope they came with anti static bag
Edit: Datasheet of a BS170 also shows a protection diode. So I don't why I had more problems with them.

It is the same everywhere. In Canada, the customs department is so overloaded, it can take 3 to 4 months to get normal mail shipments from Aliexpress. I use the "e-packet" shipping option and it takes 3 weeks instead of 4 to 6 months. Of course, you have to be careful, I have received fake product before...marcao_cfh wrote:Once it took about 7 months to receive a packagebajaman wrote:try Aliexpress.

Helo bajaman
i would be curious the process you used to come up with this circuit?
is it by theorical calculation from the tube circuit to go for the opamp version?
or, with use of Simulation software, SPICE type, and go with components selection that way?
maybe combinaison of the 2 ?
in anycase, good job
thumbs up,
Chris,

thumbs up,
Chris,
Built this today, 100k volume pot felt like to much volume when maxed. Can i change to a 25k or 50k pot?
And i managed to mix up the 1and 3 lugs on all three pots, ccw fun...
This was my third vero build and i thank you very much bajaman for this sweet 5e3 emulation!
So, bajamans' hiwatt or ac30 next?
Decisions decisions!

Did up a layout for this schematic with a nod to Kevin at Aion for the off-board rectifier, cap and connections to jacks.
Let me know what you think of the layout and where possible improvements can be made.

I made the PCB as I did above.... the output volume is WAY low - like 10% of unity. I will need to signal trace with the circuit to see what is causing that. I will also triple check my component values since it not without possiblity that something was not the right value.

If you shared the layout transfer, other could build it and help check it. It's probaly in the layout.FeVeR2112 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2020, 01:35 I made the PCB as I did above.... the output volume is WAY low - like 10% of unity. It may be a mistake in populating the board, but you probably already checked that.
Please do report back if you find the error. A lot of people will be interested in using the layout.

I have triple checked the layout to the schematic and used the trace tool in the program (Sprint) to ensure the connections were all the way through. I have checked for shorts or solder issues... none found, I also clean my boards after soldering. I have time this weekend to double check the component values.
I am happy to share the layout, Gerber files etc. I have attached the files in a ZIP file.

I also had an enclosure UV print design for this and had it done at Tayda - they somehow printed white when the file clearly had black in the color layer... oh well.... submitted a ticket
[Update: my bad... I did not select that the white was in the color layer... it will be a demo pedal... LOL]
Here is how it looked:
