I made this amp 3 Years ago........4X ecc83, 2X EL34(Ei Nis...Yugoslavia),and rectifier tube.
build it completely from scratch .....but use good materials(stainless steel,wood-same kind as my guitar 8) )

...preamp is 4 paralell channels .....but can be switched into 2 +2 in serie(have 2 relays).....

...to be honest it is little bit chaotic(not bad sounding...no hum at all)....but I want to rebuild preamp section.................have 3xECC83 to do that (one is used for phase inverter)....

SO DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGESTIONS FOR BEST GUITAR PREAMP?

Nice! I really like the perforated metal case. It looks heavy!
My first builds looked chaotic inside too - but as long as it works (and as long as you can take it out of the house and it still works...). With good layout planning ahead of time, the preamp rebuild can make the inside more neat and clean.

Favorite preamps? :hmmm:
I've built several Soldano style amps, and that preamp is one of my favorites; especially the heavy crunch it can get, and it sounds great with an EL34 power amp. The full normal two channel Soldano preamp requires more preamp tubes than you have available here, but you could configure it to be the Clean/Crunch side (as two switchable channels), and if you drop the Soldano's FX loop, you can do it easily with 3 preamp tubes (two for the preamp, and one for the Phase Inverter). With some good switching, you can have two full channels with separate tone controls and master volumes, while sharing the same tubes.

yes please post some your schematics ... :)
and there are 4 preamp tubes ...(3 for preamp,and one for phase inverter)

....I was thinking to add spring reveerb ( have one tank from fender twin reverb)....5 months ago I made stand alone fender tube reverb unit for friend.....so I an thinking to add one EL84+ small output trafo to drive reverb (like in VIBROKING)?.........

.....What do you think about old PREMIER reverb unit(there is one tube less)........

Just be reminded that more gain = more noise ...so you may need to be neat....especially on the SLO.
:D

Have a look at some Hiwatt gain channels here
It's has some of that ol school OD ...and it's a good start.

The Bogner Ecstasy channel 2 and 3 is another great candidate imo...

thanks man.......I am looking for the clean preamp ..more than dist.......(for distorzion I have build buzzaround clone :) and fuzzfactory,and tubezipper+superhardon.......)

when I find time I will make something simple...simple simple,but with great sound! and old looking.......perheaps to use BLACKFINGER tube compressor as preamp?modify that ( some tone controlls?)...or tube EQ............

You didn't mention what kind of Voltages the amp sees. There's a lot of tones in one of these.

wow ,I am enjoying....great amp.....are those metal tubes in the preamp?
I have around 380V -400V........not sure.
Do not know why, but do you think fender VIBRO KING would be a good choice?
