Is there any progress in the measurement?

Sorry it took so long to get around to doing this. It's just been a nightmare. Coincidentally I received another one of these because "the volume control sucks". Hmmmm.
Anyway, I measured it in the new one and even opened up the old one to double check.
C3 is 0.1uF.

Thank you very much for your work.
Here the schematic with the edited values for C3 and RV1 (DRIVE potentiometer):

Anyone has a layout for it? It seems very interesting...

What layout are you interested in, point-to-point,Vero or PCB ?

If no one made a vero layout yet then I will make one.

Hi Gigelmargel
What size of board do you want?

There are several sizes of 1590 enclosures marked by two letters after the number 1590, which one do you mean?It doesn't matter too much, but if it will fit in a 1590 it would be nice

I think that it's 1590B...thank you, Manfred!

Hard to believe that, but fuzzhead just sent me a layout for Nigel Touch Drive...so I will verify the vero as soon as possible and, if it will work, I think that fuzzhead will post it on his site.
Many thanks again for your kindness, Manfred!

Another correction of the schematic the connection of pin 3 of the level potentiometer to ground was still missing.
I had the following Vero layout already in work and have finished it.
The dimensions are 2 X 0.9 inches or 51 X 23 millimeters.
Ready to print PDF-Files in original size: Lochmaster4.0 _File:

As a supplement, the layout with component designator in accordance with the schematic above:
Lochmaster4.0-file project update, component designators version added:
- Bside2234
- Resistor Ronker
Technically, not a correction to the schematic based on the original. The original didn't have leg 3 of the level pot connected to ground. At least the two I've worked on didn't.
I do recommend doing it though. It's crap control without it.

Right, I remember you had already mentioned this in a post at the top.
The regulation works poorly in conjunction with the high input resistances of greater than 500 kiloohms,
I think that could be a serial error in the manufacture.
The device costs too much for a wire tangle anyway.

I finished my clone (using this layout: http://dirtboxlayouts.blogspot.com/202 ... drive.html) and it works OK. The only problem is the Drive pot, which has a little influence on the sound, being too much distorted (but in a good sense) all the time. Even I increased it to 500K, I can't obtain an almost clear sound. After the first FET stage the signal is boosted, but clean. After the second stage, with 2N3904, but before the clipping diodes, the signal is distorted too much for my taste. By the way, I have Ibanez Infinity standard coils, which have a high output signal, I think.
So, to solve this problem, I added a 5K pot between the 390 ohms resistor from 2N3904's emitter and ground, so, now I have a good drive pot.
Looking again at the photos, it seems to me that 390 ohms resistors could be 3.9K. I know that in a LPB-1 the stock value is 390 ohms, but with 3.9K I think that it sound more than an overdrive.
Another question is which is the drain biasing voltages? I biased mine at 4.5V, as usually.
Anyway, is one of the best overdrives that I know, so thank you all!

100% positive the resistor off the emitter of Q2 is 390Ω. I have some good pics of it and it is for sure Orange-White-Brown-Gold.gigelmargel wrote: ↑15 Jun 2021, 05:04 Looking again at the photos, it seems to me that 390 ohms resistors could be 3.9K.
