3D models of components

Sup lads,
hope this is apropriate thread for this post.

I'm in a process of updating my personal 3D library of audio-related components: pots, jacks, toggle switches, graphic indicators, you name it.
Right now only 9 components are published, about hundred more to come in a month or so.
I'm trying to make everything as neat as possible, all models are build in respect to both datasheets and real parts. Some small details are missed on purpose, others are approximated, all made to make your CAD suffer less, while maintaining somewhat presentable look.
Maybe I'll update them with KiCad footprints once I finish migrating from Eagle, dunno.

Fantastic models, I would love the KiCad footprints of the Alpha pots if you have them, especially the 16mm single and dual PCB angle pots as I use them for my Sunn Beta Amp stompbox.

I love your 3D models, I use them all the time.
I am wondering what type of program you use to make them.
Can you recommend a program for a beginner to 3D ? Preferable free to use.

Oh thank you, I'm really glad you like em.

My go-to software is Fusion360.
It has very nice UI and is quite easy to learn. You can get a hobby-license for free, though it has some restrictions compared to paid versions. Or you can get an educational license, which is something in between them, it's issued for free for 5 years, but getting it will require a small lie.

Other softwares that might interest you are: SolidWorks (pretty much an industry standard, hard to get a free copy) and FreeCad (atrocious UI and illogical workflow; made by chipmunks; 100% free; KiCad integration, which works so-so).

Nice idea!
Have been burned often, especially with placement of dc and audio jacks.
A mechanical engineer myself, I have Cre (formerly Pro/engineer) on my laptop, so I usually use that. At work we no longer have 2d cad, so I use Adobe Illustrator for that (atypical software for engineering but really helpful for label definition and logos etc.)
