I can post the Gerber zip after it's verified. I'll have a few leftover as well.
Looks great. Can you add my CC license somewhere? Some attribution next to your own name would also make me happy :D

I can do that, I made sure to put it on the schematic. The main reason my name is on the board is so, if the extra ones get out, they'll know where to find build docs. The credit is definitely all yours. I get it on the next batch of boards. I sent the protos to the fab house last night.

Good good, attribution is one thing, even better if it leads to all the resources we have about this and maybe our other projects. Be sure to post updates!

it was PRR, not RG :) he said: "All old transistor workers KNOW that transistors always blow to protect the fuses. "

It's verified. Eagle files and zip file if you wnt to upload to JLCPCB or similar.

I've taken a look. Good job. Is the tone control labeled TOAN? ha, I like it. Also this is a creepy clown, you got that right.

Yep, all of my layouts with a tone control are labeled Toan. That's what we're all chasing. :D I knew that clown was right the minute I saw it.

I am working to get more distortion out of it early on. About 2/3 of the rotation doesn't do much at least with my D9k diodes. The value could possibly be taken down from 100kB to about 25kb.

That will also make the signal going into the gain stage quieter! try to decrease r6 and increase c5 proportionally instead.

Got this board back. I replaced the GEs with red LEDs. It sounds fantastic now.

jeepe wrote: 18 Sep 2022, 06:52 hi,

as to the vero layout, I had to re-check it before uploading, it is unverified, but I believe it's correct (I do make mistakes, but not often, and I've re-checked it)

I've changed your chosen PSU design, minor change :) as you see, I used a diode in series not to the GND for reverse polarity protection
(I've read opinions, extensively, about the "connect to GND" solution, and accepted that it will not necessarily protect any parts of the circuit, and leave mess when a reverse polarity PSU connection happens)

all files are attached, anyone feel free to adapt it, correct it, etc...

the PDF has the links and holes map, too... the PNG only has the populated board only
(but anyone can export it for themselves)

...........
PS: for anyone editing the DIYLC file, the parts' names are NOT correct, that is, "R2" might be "R2", according to the schematic, but other parts will not match their names in the schematic, so, keep to the VALUES, and don't believe the "NAMES" :)
Hello. Thanks for putting this layout together, jeepe.

I made a true bypass version based on your layout that's like 98% the same, just without buffered bypass. A few minor differences:
  • I have the 1M pulldown on the input going to Vr like like in the schematic, whereas I think yours goes to ground
  • I think you're missing a jumper to ground on one of your 100uF power filter caps
  • A couple electronically irrelevant changes to accommodate parts placement that works for me (like allowing more physical room for the reverse power protection diode)
  • Mine was slightly noisier than my other clone. dylan159 suggested that C10 should be larger than C9 (not a ton, just the bigger one within the tolerance). I didn't measure them before soldering, so I tacked another 100pF in series with C10, and it became quieter than my other one. I've shown that it my drawing, but I don't think it's strictly necessary
I'm attaching my version for CC BY NC SA purposes.

Here's a PCB layout with LED clipping (or clipping of your choice) on a SPDT:
https://github.com/szukalski/pedal-sarda
Gerbers for the PCB and a faceplate are included (if such is your want).

Great work to both chip and szukalski. Glad the capacitor did the trick.
