I have a GV-2 that is perfect through bypass, but quite noisy with the effect engaged. If the gain goes from 2-5 (dimed) o'clock, it does a loud, obnoxious squeal. The squeal does vary by volume. At one point with the gain dimed, I heard the squeal faintly while in bypass. I can't seem to find a bad component as I've tested the ICs, transistor, a couple caps, and the ground line. Would a component be leaking the signal somewhere?

From the pics available at https://mirosol.kapsi.fi/2014/07/marsha ... vnor-plus/, the wiring looks like a mess. You might try separating the input wiring from the output wiring as far as possible, or using shielded wire on the input.
<edit> On another forum, a similar problem was tracked down to a bad input cap (10 nF just before the first op amp.)

Good call on the input cap from the other forum, that was the issue.
