Just wondering if any of you use a Fender Blues Jr. If so, have you modded it? I'm aware of the . Anybody know what all he did? Brian, care to share your modifications?
I just got the amp tonight, so I've only been able to play with it for about 5 minutes. I noticed something strange about the tone controls... The mid control seems to suck out all of the mids when turned below noon, and gives a hell of a boost when past noon. Also, the bass and treble controls don't really seem to do anything. Is that normal for this amp? If not, where should I start to trouble shoot? It's a 2003 model with the cream board.

After spending a little more time with the amp this morning, I found out that the responsiveness of the tone controls is very dependent on how the pre-volume and master volume are set. I found that by cranking the master all the way, and using the pre-volume to adjust to taste, I got some of the mids back when the mid knob is below noon, and the treble and bass controls work better too. The odd thing is, the mid control still gives a very big volume/gain/mid boost when set anywhere past noon. Anybody know if this is normal for this amp?

This goes some of the way in explaining the problem.

I got back in touch with the guy I got the amp from, and he said the person who had it before him modded it some how so that when the mid knob is above noon, it gives a boost. If this is so, at least it's not defective (other than it not working like I was expecting
). Guess I'll have to open it up to see if I can get the tone section sorted out.
