Someone's posted up a bunch of gutshots and a parts list for the Lovetone Flange With No Name over on the other forum.

Better get it while it's still up!

Better copy the parts list here too. Didn't some Buck get banned before? Strange first post anyway. But good.

So how are the clones coming along boys? Looks like it would be a tough one to me.

I finally got my LT Flanger fixed and since a some people were asking about a demo I finally got off my butt and made a video, so here it is:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...05537105016438

It actually sounds much better in person, I will try to do another vid with better audio, the amp properly miked, etc.

Nice demo, I don't think it can do any more than the ADA. The next stage in flanging is barberpole.

You have to hear it in person, or with a better recording... the audio quality on these clips make critical listening impossible... I mean it's a camera mic and 128 bit rate MP3. It doesn't have any of that metallic sound, the sound of the thing is gorgeous, far beyond any other stompbox flanger. As well it has more parameters you can dial in & tweak. I didn't even get into the other features with it, the stereo thing, the light jack, the expression pedal, or the effects loop. But really it's the sound, super warm and fat. Once you hear it there's no going back... they are worth the money they sell for... unlike the ADA most of them end up being used recording studios.

Possibly, I've thought for a long time that the fancy sounds from a flanger are great to listen to at home and catch your dog's attention, but in a band situation you can't keep mucking about with the controls so a Standard Electric Mistress is as good as any.

Well I've gigged with mine, when I use it live I just leave it set for leslie/vibe sounds, I don't tweak it a bunch other than changing the rate/speed slower or faster. It sounds very creamy with overdriven pedals/amps.

MN3102 and an MN3007 are my guess.

I also think the box is a transformer.

Nearly - 3101 and 3007. The "thing on the right" is a voltage converter module. They used to be a common way of getting different supply rails when a designer couldn't be arsed to build a supply with all the outputs that a circuit needed!

I built one with an MN3102 and 3207. The thing on the right is a transformer. I used one of the little Mouser ones, don't remember now which, but I can dig it out if anyone cares. I defer to mictester's knowledge, he knows way more about EE theory than I, however I built it with a trafo and it works, so, I don't know. :hmmm:

It's a pretty ridiculous build. Sounds are fun, but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

Not quite, Mike. It's mostly an inverter, consisting of an oscillator (usually at around 80 - 100 kHz) driving a transformer (which does most of the voltage change), into a bridge rectifier and then some regulators. There is usually some clever feedback from the output to control the mark - space ratio of the oscillator to optimise the energy transfer. They are made for up and down voltage conversions, and have fixed outputs and a fairly small range of input voltages.

These little DC-DC converters used to be very common, but nowadays the MAX1044 and the National Simple Switcher series and all the others make supply conversion easy.

I guess that's probably why Lovetone discontinued it fairly quickly. I love mine though, I'll never get rid of it... probably the most fun stompbox ever IMO.
