What kind of power soak should I build?
Hi, first of all, thanks for this forum, great inspiration! In was wondering what kind of power soak/attenuator or whatever I should build for my tweed champ clone - it's still too loud for a city apartment, the neighbors, you know. The sound shouldn't be altered too much by the device. Maybe I should mention that I know a bit about electronics, I used to work in a TV-repair shop about 15 years ago, but I forgot a lot. Still, I know how to solder, how to read a schematic and I already built some pedals, tweaked some amps.
But the question is: how do I reduce the volume of my little SE-tube amp without losing its tonal character.
Thanks
Markus

Well, now this is an interesting concept. I always thought of lowering what's coming out of the amp, not of lowering cathode voltages. And it doesn't seem to take up much real estate. I found a version how to put one into a GA-5, there shouldn't be much difference to my champ clone.
Thanks a lot
