I'm working on this project right now and since I play bass the .0047uf input cap looks like it won't be good for bass. I'll have to experiment with other values.

@collingtech if you google up a RC calculator, see what freqs it gives with present components and than for bass aim for half of that.
I just saw this post. That chip looks really cool. I think it would be an awesome to use for a tone control for a distortion circuit. I'm gonna get myself some samples!

I used the UAF42 in a another variable filter project and it's kinda noisy. A low noise chip like the TLE2074/84 would work better

somebody made a PCB layout from Bajaman's design. a lot easier to follow if schematic reading skills are limited

Finally finished it and it sounds GREAT! changed C2 input cap to 4u7 to make it better for bass. put in a pot + res in R15 for a mid boost/cut. put in a pot + res for R17 for a gain boost/cut. put in switches + caps for C4 & C5 to select different values. substituted all the TL chips for LT's. success! Hi PaulBass
Nice work - you have taken this pedal to a whole new level of performance :thumbsup
How about a schematic and pictures of your build for other members to enjoy
I would seriously consider this to be a very good candidate for it's own DIY thread - what do you think?
Choose a name for it and publish it right here on fsb - that would be good to see.
Cheers :applause:

now I can hear what the BBE "process" is all about. It adds more clarity and pushes the sound to the front instead of it getting lost through the back of the speaker. For some reason the gain is a little too much, probably due to the LT chip substitutions. I have a 32K res + 50K pot at R17 and the pot has to be all the way down for the gain to be at a normal level. I'll probably lower the resistor to 10K to give the pot a better range. I'll post the changes when I'm done tweaking. The total for all the parts was only around $10 and I got the LT chips free as samples. thanks for the design! [smilie=rlp_smilie_242.gif]

Could someone post the enhanced plus fully correct version of the entire project here? (like very final)
It would be very helpful and friendly.
I've been reading all the posts and I stumbled upon small mistakes, new options etc.etc.
I kind of lost track and since my knowledge is limited, I'm afraid I would build an instant failure in stead of a working device. :D

Love your work, Bajaman. Thought I'd contribute with a vero layout I did for this effect.

I did this layout upon request, and I was told it worked.

wow great results with these LT chips. since I run the bass pickups directly into the Sonic Stomp I had to swap the 1K input res for a 250K linear pot to keep the LT1359 from being overloaded. 100K range seems to stop the overloading. this is great because when I plug in a regular bass or guitar I can just tune the pot down to 1K. there is a slight popping with the switches so added 1M resistors to ground for each switch. also added a 0.1uF kemet ceramic bypass cap across the LT1359 power rails for filtering and stability. the midrange knob can be adjusted to get a great tone for slapping. changing the input cap from .0047uF to 4.7uF (metal film) really makes this effect great for bass. Hey, there is a similar IC to LT1359?

Thanks.

The only quad chip I've seen with a 600V slew rate is the MAX4020 but it has a 7mA current drain. You can use a TLE2074 or TLE2084. All these op amps including the LT1359 are available as free samples

I ask about any opamp it's similar or superior in performance; I want the same results you achieve with the LT1359, because here in Brazil is difficult find it.

Doesn't matter it is a single, dual or quad chip.

Cheers.

The change about the C2 is 4u7 yet? the value does 47n, is not?

What do you think of putting a buffer?

I run my bass with a JFET buffer through it and it sounds great. you can install a simple buffer in your bass, no need for anything fancy

Hi Paul Bass! i think that your mods are very interesting, but i'm wondering some details about them. first: what's the value of the resistance value used with the pot instead of the r17 for the gain pot? the same question for the value of the mid pot. next: could you explain the "switches + caps for c4 & c5" mod? seems quite interesting but i think i dont get it. then: could you detail the IC replacement that you did? the exact ic's that you used would be nice!
other thing: the layout you posted it's from the bloviator (from madbeans) and it includes the 4u7 cap instead the original c2... thats great.
thanks for your information!
