So I traded my Box of Metal to a forum member here (thanks Brian!!) for a Catalinbread Heliotrope. And here are the gut shots with components labeled on a few of the pics.

The sound of this thing is, er, odd. "Delightfully impractical" is what I've come up with.

Looks like the wiring/soldering is okay. The decal on on the face is very fragile, and I managed to mar it a tiny bit while removing the net for the switch. I don't know if it would hold up (cosmetically) while gigging.

So... I'm guessing that's not the same thing that was in that DOD multieffect we were talking about....

Thanks for the awesome pics, man! I'm gonna try tracing this one.

Any time.

If you need additional pics of different angles or whatever, let me know and I'll get 'em posted.

Those small resistors are very neat. Does anybody know where I can buy them in Europe?

Those look like standard 1/8W resistors. You should be able to get them at most any electronics supplier. Years ago Philips Beyschlag used to make very nice small metal film resistors like that. They have since been bought by Vishay (along with most other component manufacturers  ).

If you don't see it here, it ain't been done.

But all the info needed to trace the circuit is in the first couple posts of this thread.

Culturejam, could you check the value of the resistor directly below the 741? It isn't labeled in the picture (hiding behind the 22n) and I can't quite figure out the colours, looks kind of like two shades of brown.

Schematic on its way

First draft schematic. No values yet, will update once I've added them (either later tonight or tomorrow).

I hate Eagle. (And JSchem now as well).

Revised schem. Couple of errors fixed, values added. Will double check it tomorrow with a fresh set of eyes. Could an admin delete the previous one? It won't let me edit the post to remove it

1st draft deleted. nice job salocin! looking forward to seeing the final. looks like a surprisingly simple circuit for such a strange sound. i guess it all the magic hinges on that jfet splitting off the circuit?

Very new territory for me. Is the second opamp is an oscillator? And is the input being used to bias the jfet? What is going on here? I don't see a conventional ringmod.

Unfortunately, I sold the pedal about a month after posting those gut shots. :|
