they read 12K and 126K in circuit. so i would say 10K and 100K.

thanks! :D So (I gather) the differences mean better control of the fuzz/octave range and cutting of the lows? The control difference looks like a very practical change (meaning it wouldn't seem surprising if Jimi's had the same just because he needed to as a practical matter), so I wonder if RM protests too much in re: to the authenticity of this circuit (clone of one from the Hendrix museum as I understood).

Just soldered the 100kA pot replacing the 500kA and it sounds a bit better, but just a bit, in my opinion. That's it a bucket of small differences making a big one...

Regarding the autenticity...

Well, I know that claiming those kind of things is a very strong sales point. Oh, yeah, I love Jimi Hendrix too, but one of the main things I love about him is that he sounds like himself. And I know the same equipment would sound awfull on some other hands, or not.

But even finding very interesting the "museologic" side of the matter, what excited me about this pedal was it's sound details. It's very inspiring, that made me looking for the thing and try to understand how the differences in Octavio/a circuits could afect all those versions.

Here in Brazil it would cost me more than $350 to get one, a bunch of money for such a thing and I know we could do the job. My time costs money too, but it's very satisfying to see the thing going out... I just make pedals for myself nowadays. Soon I will try a negative ground version just for comparison matters. But this one stays on my pedalboard until I find the other version is really similar in sound and performance.

Thanks for everyone who helped! :D

So what's the consensus on why the Dunlop sounds good?
the different caps, the different boost circuit?
I've been comparing the schematics and was going to start tweaking my Octavia to the Dunlop specs.

I changed the cap values, my GGG Octavia stopped working. I'm sure it's a short somewhere...I know I oriented the caps correctly.

Do you pay attention to the fact the circuit posted here is a positive ground one? Which GGG version did you build?
The trannies are Q1 NPN and the others PNP and correctly oriented?

Mine is NPN, i made sure that the orientation of the new caps matched the old ones. It's a really tight layout in the box, it's inside an MXR sized one, with the switch in the center, and the knobs are on the side.

Check for broken wires also, that's the biggest problem I have when building or modding pedals....the darn wires always break!

I forget, did anyone try 100uf cap on the gain pot?
That was quoted as the original value on the Fuzz Central site.

Yes, I did, but it's the original for Tyco, not the Dunlop on this thread.

It's get too much gain if you do the other changes for a Dunlop box.
