I found the GTO schematic online and compared it to my traced Matamp Series 2000 schematic.
the marked values in orange are the differences between the GTO and the Series 2000 I found.
That Amp sounds wonderful and like nothing else, listen to Fleetwood Mac's Studio Albums as that was the Amp Peter Green used!

Is the bit in the middle with the two jacks a simple, passive effects loop? I'm kind of puzzled as to why that's even there. Anyways, really simple circuit. Thanks for sharing Ghandi!

Yup,
that is a passive effects loop. mainly used for the fitting Matamp Reverb unit that you can here on Albatross!
The original Matamp Series 2000 Amp used the same Radiospares Deluxe OT and PT as the Marshall JTM.

Yep, that's my schematic, visible at
nicosonic.com.
This is the schematic of one version only of the GTO/2000. I traced it from pictures but got several other Matamp in for repair after that. The amp's design varies (amongst other things, different phase splitter circuits can be used) but I am glad that you confirm that 680k plate resistor.

Hey Nyquist5 cool to meet you here.
The 680K plate resistor is clearly visible.
So now we can finally start to building some Series 2000 inspired amps with some nice radiospares "work alike" trafos and this schematic!
That's just a great amp, pure and simple and it was peter green in every note!
It really does. I build a jfet emulation pedal of that amp and it was pure albatross, with a strat and a les paul!
I'll hopefully get around building it next spring or summer!

sorry I didn't made a schematic,
just follow the schematic of the amp, change the plate resistors for trims and adjust the jfet drains to 4,5V.
add a two 15k 2n2 dual low pass filters and a 100k volume pot and you are done.

Yes, GZ34. I forgot to mention it on the schematic.
At least on GTO I had in used diode rectification instead of valves. As I said, there are many vairations on the theme.
If you build one, put the effect loop switching jacks the right way round so that you don't run the risk of burning the return triode (the return jack should be switching to ground when nothing is connected). I still don't understand why Matamp connects its jacks that way
