Also I think good idea could be jumpering or lowering 68K on output and rising Voulme pot to 50K or 100K to rise pedal total volume.
HiwattBob mentioning in demo that pedal is pretty quitet and Volume knob must be dimed.

Hey, Thanks for posting the schematic Ed,

I tried to build one of those some time ago, based on the pics,
it didn't work, so i put it away and forgot about it...

Just pulled it out again after seeing the schematic...
never noticed the bce pinout of those 2n5173 :slap:

Flipped the transistors, and it works
Still needs some tweaking though.

Here's a pic, used the pcb layout on perfboard...

One correction should be made - cap on Q1 emmiter, in left down corner of vero should be 1nF instead 10nF according to Jerms schematic.

I haven't seen this post, fixed now.

Is this a 9V negative center powered pedal?

Also (newbie ?) how can I tell when looking at a schematic if it's 9V negative center, like a Fuzz Face?

Hey everyone. I know this is an old thread and all but I'm a small pedal builder from brooklyn, ny and I make a clone of the fuzz-stainer. Heres a few pics.

Why don't you use the unused lug of the footswitch to ground the input in bypass?

I haven't had any noise problems in bypass and haven't had any reports from any of my customers so I wasn't doing it for a while. Probly wouldn't hurt to do it tho huh?

I finished mine the other day. IMO, it's a great sounding pedal. I used a relayed true bypass in it.

Looks great john! You've really inspired a lot of my tidy building habits.
Is that the Tim Webster relay layout? Does it work good?
